If This Be Treason...

I went to a North Korean restaurant the other night. Owned by Kim Jung-Il (in his capacity as head of state.) They had a "culture show," that consisted of synthesizers, drums, karoake, and our waitresses singing.

They also had karaoke rooms. We rented one after the the culture show, and I got to see sing a group of people that included the owner of my hotel, a part-time law student from UNLV, the proprietor of one of the nicer Thamel bars, a guy who has summitted everest twice (and who dropped a dime to the army on the hippy jackass who tried to bring a "Free Tibet" banner up the mountain) and two German med students.

I also (finally) gave my presentation today. There was an unexpected meeting of the CA, so a lot of the guests had to cancel, and my boss was called out from the meeting to go assist with legal aid at a protest, where several women's rights advocates had apparently stripped naked in a publc square and had been arrested. The presentation went fine, except for the argument that broke out afterwards between a muslim rights leader and a hindu organization's president, but since that was all in Nepali, I'll have to wait until a briefing tomorrow to figure out what the issue was.
